Mawlamyaing (Moulmein)

mawlamyine-01The capital of Mon State. The atmosphere of post-colonial decay is more palpable in Mawlamyaing. It is also an attractive, leafy, tropical town with a ridge of stupa capped hills on one side and the sea on the other.





Sittwe

sittwe-01Sittwe is the capital of Rakhine state. Sittwe sits at the mouth of the Kaladan River where it empties into the Bay of Bengal and it is the gateway to Mrauk U. Colonial style clock tower, Rakhine museum, fish market are some interesting places to see.





Mrauk U

mrauk-u-01Mrauk U is located near the west coast of Myanmar, once a centre for one of Myanmar’s most powerful kingdoms. There are around 70 named temple, stupa around Mrauk U, and there are lots of crumbing stupas next to the town especially on hill rock along the stream at the southern end of town a very nice area for sunrise or sunset str />olls. The more significant temple and stupa sites are Shitthaung Pagoda (80000 Pagodas) located half mile away from Mrauk U, Koethaung Pagoda (90000 Pagodas), biggest Pagoda in Mrauk U area, Andaw Pagoda , houses a tooth relic of Buddha.



Keng Tong

kyaingtong-01The capital city of Golden Triangle Region. Keng Tong is the most scenic town in the Shan State with the surrounding green hills and narrow. It is the most suitable places for eco-tourism activities like trekking, mountain-biking and adventure tours and interesting to see many ethnic tribes in colorful dresses such as Wa, Shan, Akha and Lahu.



Hpa-An

hpa-anCapital of Kayin State. Visitor can reach to Hpa-An either by river ferry from Mawlamyaing - a very scenic trip or overland from Yangon across the bridge over the Thanlwin River. A climb up to Zwe Ka Bin Mountain’s peak will reward you with an outstanding view.




Myitkyina

myitkyinaThe capital of Kachin State. Myit Son, the confluence of the Mehka and Malihka Rivers, 43 km north of Myitkyina, forms the beginning of the great Ayeyarwady River. The kachin Manaw festival is held annually in Myitkyina around first week of January.




Putao

putao-01A Picturesque small town Putao is the northernmost part of Myanmar. It is famous for variety of endemic birds and orchids, which grow naturally. Black Orchid can be found in the mountains east and west of Putao. Mt. Hkakaborazi, 5889 meters high, snow capped year round. The highest mountain in Myanmar and in southeast Aisa.



 

Mt.Victoria

victoriaMt.Victoria or Nat Ma Taung is the highest mountain in the Chin State, reaching a height of 3100 meters above sea level. Trekking to Mt. Victoria, it is great attraction for bird watching, observing butterflies, flora and fauna, meeting with the ladies who have tattoos all over the face, experience a way of their life.




Myeik (Mergui)

myeik-01Located in the extreme south of Myanmar. The beautiful island of the Mergui Archipelago sits on a peninsula that juts out into the Andaman Sea. Myeik is the major busy port town and centre for fishing, pearl, bird’s nests, rice and rubber industries. Myeik natural pearl is royal and value attraction on the world. These natural pearl are inhibited by “Sea gypsies”, a nomadic seafaring people who sail from island to island, stopping off to repair their boats or fishing nets. Known as Moken or Salon people. Myeik Archipelago is excellent place for Diving and Snorkelling.


Kawthaung

kawthaung-01It is known as Victoria Point, the southernmost point of mainland Myanmar. The city of Kawthaung is only separated from Thailand by a broad estuary in the Pakchan River. The main business is trade with Thailand, followed by fishing, rubber and cashews. Lashio Lashio is a trading town in Northern Shan State. A spectacular mountain scenery, thick forests and unspoilt hill tribe villages are its attraction.
